Step 1 — Submit the inquiry
The fastest path is the custom-cake inquiry form at /custom-cake on the website. Provide the pickup date, the flavor (vanilla, chocolate, butterscotch, strawberry, mango, rasmalai cream, gulab, pista, black forest, red velvet, or specify), the serving count, the design reference (photo, sketch, or written description), and any dietary notes (vegan, Jain, allergen). For complex orders — tiered wedding cakes, sculpted fondant figures, photo cakes with multiple elements — call the bakery directly so we can talk through the design.
Step 2 — Lead time by cake type
Standard 1-pound and 2-pound round or square cakes need 48 hours notice. Themed cakes with sculpted fondant figures (Santa, Spider-Man, unicorn, etc.) need 3 to 5 days. Tiered cakes (2-tier and up) need 5 to 7 days. Photo cakes with bakery-resolution printed images need 48 to 72 hours. Vegan (eggless plus dairy-free) cakes need 72 hours. During festival or wedding-season weeks, book earlier — Diwali, Christmas, and Mother's Day weeks fill the calendar fast.
Step 3 — Design preview and approval
For themed cakes and tiered cakes, we send a final-design preview (sketch or reference photo of similar past builds) before bake day so the design is locked in writing. This is your chance to adjust color, sculpting detail, or topper placement. For simple cakes (1-pound vanilla with name piped on top), we skip the preview and bake to the inquiry spec. The preview step is what prevents day-of-pickup surprises on complex builds.
Step 4 — Eggless and Jain by default
Every cake is eggless by default — no upcharge, no compromise on rise or texture. The bakery was built around eggless recipes from day one because most Indian-American families in Chantilly, Centreville, Fairfax, and Herndon keep eggless households. For Jain orders, we additionally confirm no onion, garlic, or root-vegetable derivatives in the decorations and reset the prep station on request. Vegan (eggless plus dairy-free) is available in vanilla, chocolate, mango, and butterscotch with 72 hours notice.
Step 5 — Pricing band
1-pound eggless cakes start around $40. 2-pound cakes run $55 to $75 depending on design. Themed kids' cakes with sugar figures: $75 to $150. Photo cakes: add roughly $10 to the base price. Tiered cakes: $150 for simple 2-tier up to $800-plus for multi-tier wedding cakes with extensive fondant or sugar work. Wedding cakes scale on the number of tiers, finish (buttercream vs fondant), and complexity of sugar work. Final pricing locks at the design-preview stage.
Step 6 — Pickup or delivery
Pickup is at the Chantilly location (14027 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy). For tiered cakes, pickup is recommended because the structure travels safest in a controlled environment with flat floor space. Local delivery is available for cakes over $100 across Chantilly, Centreville, Fairfax, Herndon, Reston, South Riding, and Ashburn. Christmas Eve, Mother's Day, and Diwali delivery slots fill fast — lock the delivery window when you place the order.
